An Out- of- the- ordinary Week!

This was no ordinary week for me (Kim) and boy did I love it! At the end of the week Tod and I were invited to a Padres game with Steve Dean, Bob Marsolini, Ammon, and Jared (the girls and kids were all in Utah). We had a fun time even though the poor team lost once again. We only make it to a couple of games a year and this was a perfect evening to do it on (since they lose every game it wouldn't matter what night we went!) The lovely playing field - I love this stadium!

A little after the game (oh did I mention we left a little early since the score was so pitiful?) we stopped for a photo op with the score board behind us but you can't tell what it says. It was pathetic - 7-0.
Berni came to visit for the week WITHOUT THE KIDS OR HUSBAND!!!!!!!! She came on Sunday while Tod and the boys were still hiking mountains and we had two whole days to ourselves before the men came home to get sunburned and watch the seals, dolphins and tiger sharks from the cliffs of Torrey pines where we spent the morning hiking. Then it was so hot we climbed down to the parking lot and put the suits on for a 3 hour dip in the ocean. Boy did we get fried!! Berni got the best pictures of that day (Tod had my camera on Whitney) so if you want to see a good time look at her blog. thebuttonbunch.blogspot.com
Berni spotted my Martha Stewart cake cook and decided we needed to make a fancy cake. She loved playing with all my cake decorating stuff and I sent a bunch of fondant tools home with her to play with. This is what she created.
Pretty good for an amateur eh? Too bad under all that yummy frosting was a dry heavy cake. Have you ever eaten a piece of cake and instead of scraping off all the frosting you scrape off the cake? Interesting...
On Tuesday we went to WICKED the play. Wow was that great! On Thursday, we went out to eat with Calvin and his girlfriend Becky (a cutie by the way) and had a yummy barbecue one night in the back yard (thanks to Melinda and Drew for showing me how to make the yummiest kabobs in the world). It was a wonderful, fun and exciting memory for both of us.

A special thanks to her husband RYAN for taking the kids all by himself for 6 whole days so Berni could be home in San Diego where home is always smelling good and the sunshine never quits calling. This week was Ryan's anniverary gift to Berni ...what other husband do you know who would part with his wife for that special day and share her with her family instead of planning the day to be with her!

RYAN WE LOVE YOU!! THANKS FOR BEING THE GREATEST SON-IN-LAW IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!!!

Thanks for the trip, I loved it but we may need some help paying for the therapist that Ryan now has to see because of his week alone with the kids! haha!

It was great, can't wait to do it next summer with the whole fam!!
