What do you do when everyone comes to your house for a special occassion but decides to come early just to be together? Here are a few things that San Diego has to offer. There are many beautiful hikes and it is something kids love to do! Bugs, dirt and open space - ahhh, its a good day in Paradise.
Diehard Melinda made all four miles being pregnant and in flip flops! She earned our admiration.

Weddings and funerals are just about the best times a family can have. Some of our family funerals have been joyful and bonding and yes, even fun. This is the time you get to see people you haven't seen for many years. But this time it happened to be a wedding and we had a GREAT time! Probably because ALL of Calvins siblings were here to share this most special occasion with him. As well as most of my own family - my mom, and four of my brothers and sisters. They came all this way - its a long way - because there is something special about families and being together. Just want my family to know I love them all!!!!

The kids paid no attention to the sky but ran into the water like it was a warm bath. Did I say kids - - - who's that wet big guy?

Finding bugs seem to be a big hit with the kids - my garden had plenty to share...
We had to make grandmas favorite pretzels. Yum! And in the most clever shapes too.
Thanks to all of you who made the trip and the sacrifice to be there for us. I think Calvin was too gawgaw to notice anything but Becky (as it should be!) but someday he will realize what a special day it was for us all to be there together and how amazing a family can be.

That really was fun! I think the fact that I made the four mile hike pregnant and in sandals only shows that I am insane! I love that picture of Bernie with the crackers. Those were so good.
